"Space scientist by profession, Vahé Peroomian has taken every opportunity to pursue his fascination with photography and the beauty of the Gaian landscape. He is self-trained, and prefers the hands-on approach and independent experimentation with photographic styles and techniques. He has found that the same off-the-wall approach that works in solving physics problems helps see landscapes in a new light as well. The self-similar shapes he sees in landscapes, and the play between cloud and landscape, are a manifestation of this viewpoint."

"These are from a workshop I attended in Mexico. The project was photographing a barrio in DF Mexico, that I was not familiar with, alone, and within 24 hours. Of course, none of the neighborhoods were familiar to me. I chose the one I was staying at which was far from the school where the workshops were being taught at in Mexico City because it was new to me and I wanted to know who lived there and who my neighbors were. So photographing and meeting my neighbors was challenging because I don't know Spanish. It really gave me a sense of how people work and what they do within a few hours of the day and of course taught me how to approach people and what to expect. Mostly work hours were pretty much all day and night because my neighbors worked from home..."

"Traveling has always caused me to look at coordinates, not just geographic, but social and psychological. These pieces were a result of my return to Los Angeles after spending time in places that are seemingly similar, but in reality, entirely different. To bring order back to my relationship between social and personal chaos, I began to look at connecting lines across my universe. Longitudinal lines of geography have definite ends at the poles, where they cross and restart again; they have no gaps. The lines of latitude are circles, connect, and are endless; I was missing some connections"

Sara Anjargolian is a Los Angeles based photographer, writer and attorney. Born in London to parents of Iranian-Armenian and Iraqi-Armenian descent, Sara spent the first six years of her life in Tehran. With the outbreak of the Iranian Revolution, Sara's family immigrated to the United States, settling in Los Angeles.

We of the Mountains: A Survey of Armenian-American Art

About:
Artists of all media are invited to submit work for We of the Mountains: A Survey of Armenian-American Art, a juried exhibition at Zephyr Coffeehouse and Gallery in Pasadena, California. There is no charge for artists to participate but digital images and a short artist’s statement must be submitted (see submission guidelines below).

Submission Guidelines:
The following information must be submitted via email by MARCH 10 to be considered for exhibition:

*All work must be submitted via email by March 10.

Presentation:
All work accepted for the exhibition must be ready for hanging or display. Framed or unframed two-dimensional works and three-dimensional works are all acceptable.

Liability:
Utmost care will be taken in handling the work but neither the curators or Zephyr Coffeehouse and Gallery are responsible for loss or damage, however caused, while works are in their possession or in transit.

Important dates:
- March 10: Submission deadline at 6:00 p.m.
- March 16: Selections finalized and artists notified of participation
- March 29: Hand delivery of accepted work to Zephyr (1 - 4 pm)
- April 25: Exhibition reception (6 – 8 pm)
- May 10: Exhibition closes, pick-up of artwork (1 – 4 pm)
